Glenbard West Faces Lake Zurich Again in Semifinal

For the fourth time in five years, Glenbard West will be playing Lake Zurich this Saturday in the post-season — it will be the third time the two teams have met in the semifinal, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Last year, Glenbard West beat Lake Zurich 19-13 to continue onto the state championship, according to the article. The Chicago Tribune reports an "improved passing game" led by its quarterback, Noah Allgood, could mean the difference this year for Lake Zurich, who has lost to Glenbard West in the last two of the three semifinal games.

Glenbard West, a No. 3 seed, beat Schaumburg High School 42-21 in the quarterfinal, according to the Illinois High School Association website. The top-seeded Bears withstood 30 mph winds and pouring rain last weekend to beat Wheaton North 16-6 in the Class 7A quarterfinal, according to the Daily Herald.

Glenbard West and Lake Zurich will play at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Glenbard West to determine who will be headed to the state championship, which will be held on Nov. 30 in DeKalb, according to the IHSA.
