The Glenbard West High School boys volleyball team was recently honored for its team members overall academic achievements.
The team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 season, according to Glenbard Township High School District 87.
The team is one of only 22 boys volleyball teams nationwide to receive this award, according to the district.
To receive the award, high school and collegiate volleyball teams must display excellence in the classroom and maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
