With nearly 10,000 participants in the Lifetime Tri Chicago, was well represented, with one resident placing third in her age group.
Darcy Ytterdahl placed third in the women’s 40-44 age group, according to race officials. Ytterdahl completed the international distance triathlon in 2:34:01. In addition to the international distance race, a shorter sprint distance triathlon was also held.
The Lifetime Triathlon is the country’s largest triathlon race and was held Sunday along the lakefront.
The international distance, in which Ytterdahl placed third, consists of a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometer bike and a 10-kilometer run, according to race officials.
The event celebrated its 30th anniversary and brought together amateur and professional athletes. Racers competed in 11 age groups.
