Flag Football will be registering 1st and 2nd graders - must be 7 and under on September 1st, 2012
It is imperative that ALL TACKLE FOOTBALL PLAYERS ATTEND ONE OF THESE TWO DATES! We need to capture appropriate weight and size measurements to determine equipment and uniform needs. Failure to attend may result in late arriving and poor fitting equipment and uniforms. If your player participated in 2011, they will be assigned the same number with no exceptions. Tackle football will be registering by age and weight as follows:
73lb Football - ages 7 and 8 only - 74lb max regular, 81lb max striper
83lb Football - age 9 and under - 84lb max regular, 92lb max striper, 102lb max younger striper
93lb Football - age 10 and under - 94 lb max regular, 103lb max striper, 114lb max younger striper
103lb Football - age 11 and under - 104lb max regular, 114lb max striper, 124lb max younger striper
118lb Football - age 12 and under - 119lb max regular, 131lb max striper, 141lb max younger striper
133lb Football - age 14 and under - 134lb max regular, 147lb max striper, 157lb max younger striper
Varsity Football - age 14 and under - 174lb max regular, unlimited weight striper
The birth-date deadline is September 1 unless a player played in the 2009 season, in which case August 1 becomes the deadline.
A player that turns 15 between September 1 and November 6 must play Varsity Football.
Parents of incoming 8th grade players, as you can see the 133lb and Varsity levels are in place. Prospective changes to this level have been canceled for the 2012 season and thus the rules for team construction and player involvement will proceed using 2011 rules and regulations. Coaching staffs and teams will be built after a week-long evaluation process at the beginning of camp. The NFC Gold team will be built first, followed by the AFC Gold team at each level. Once the Gold teams are selected, the Silver teams will then be selected under the league fair draft policy. You may not request your players coach or team, and all players are eligible to be selected for Gold teams upon proper evaluation.
I am proud to state that each year we achieve record participation in Golden Eagles Football, and 2012 will be no exception. With that, we need more coaches to become involved at all levels. Specifically, we need head coaches to commit early in the process if we are to slot teams by June 1 which is the league mandate. We cannot continue to grow without your support, and offer a number of clinics and mentoring opportunities for those new to coaching, but much of that opportunity takes place in the Spring. If you are considering helping out, please make it known immediately so that you can be included in the interview process. We want your help and more importantly, our players want your help!
