Celebrate the Beauty of Churchilll Park at National Public Lands Day September 25

Glen Ellyn - Surround yourself with the beauty of Churchill Park while learning about its potential and value by attending a local celebration of National Public Lands Day.

A valuable resource, Churchill Park is one of Glen Ellyn's true "natural" parks.

"We invite everyone, individuals, families and group, including scouts, schools, neighbors and friends, to join with us in preserving and restoring the ecological health of Churchill's wetlands, prairie and woods," park district naturalist Renae Frigo said.

"National Public Lands Day is an opportunity for nature lovers to come together and restore the beauty and vitality of our open space."

Local volunteers will join more than 170,000 Americans to help improve the nation's public lands. Last year, more than 150,000 volunteers planted an estimated 10,000 native plants, built or maintained more than 1,300 miles of hiking trails and removed almost 100,000 pounds of trash. Volunteer efforts totaled an estimated $14 million worth of improvements.
