Stadium Turf Project Slated for Glenbard South

If approved, the artificial turf would be installed in the summer of 2012.

With help from an anonymous donor and boosters organization, Glenbard Township High School District 87 plans to install another synthetic turf field at one of its four high schools.

District 87 board members will review the draft documents, which outline the payment plan for the approximately $1.5 million project during Monday's board meeting.

Just like Glenbard North's synthetic field, District 87 found other donors willing to carry some of the financial burden that comes with installing the field. An anonymous donor will pay for one-third of the project, while the Glenbard South Boosters Organization funds one-third of the project throughout a period of ten years. That leaves District 87 on the hook for the remaining cost of the project.

According to the draft documents, the field could be installed by the summer of 2012. If the field is later approved for installation that will leave Glenbard East as the only high school within District 87 that does not have a turfed field.
