Special Guests to Speak at District 87 Sports Drug-Info Sessions

Northwestern University basketball coach Chris Collins will be among the big-name speakers at the four Glenbard high schools.

Glenbard High School District 87 is hosting several special guests to lead its annual meetings this week and next for student-athletes and their parents on the dangers of alcohol and drug use, the Daily Herald reports.

According to the paper, author, researcher and psychologist Aaron White hosted the meetings on Wednesday night at Glenbard West and Glenbard South, while Northwestern University men’s basketball coach Chris Collins will speak at Glenbard East on Tuesday and Lake County Associate Circuit Court Judge Chris Stride, who has seen at least one tragedy borne from underage drinking.

"I have a sense that all of us are coming together on the same page about the responsibilities we have dealing with youth and helping them make decisions, because the challenges are so great nowadays," Gilda Ross, the program organizer, told the paper.
