Glenbard West vs. Wheaton-Warrenville South: A Friendly Flag Raising

Glen Ellyn president and Wheaton mayor challenge each other to a flag raising over this Sunday's football game.

Glen Ellyn President Mark Pfefferman and Wheaton Mayor Mike Gresk have challenged each other to a friendly flag raising over the outcome of the Glenbard West vs. Wheaton-Warrenville South football game taking place on Sunday, Aug. 28. The winning city will see its flag fly in the opponent’s town.

This season opener will be in the national spotlight as it will be aired on ESPN2. The Glenbard West and Wheaton-Warrenville South game will be televised at 11 a.m. on Sunday Aug. 28, as part of the annual ESPN High School Football Kickoff.

In ESPN’s coverage leading up to the game it is noted that the Hilltopper’s Duchon Field was named by USA Today as one of the 10 best high school stadiums to see a game, and that the Glenbard West team was ranked in the top 50 teams nationally at one point last season.

Glenbard South kicks off their season by facing Prairie Ridge at home on Friday, Aug. 26 at 7pm.
