Glenbard West Students Compete at State Speech Competition This Weekend

Glenbard West took second place as a team at their sectional and advanced 24 students to the state meet, which will be held on Friday and Saturday at the Peoria Civic Center.

The following students advanced in Performance in the Round and were sectional champions:  Julia Dorn, Carly Paras, Colin Griffin, Ethan Ellis, Kyle Miller, Daisy Jones, Annika Geiselhart, Caroline Trant, Tiffany Powell, Katie Phillipson, Katie Karp, Bailey Bystry, Nora James and Colette Bare.

The following students advanced in individual events and placed the following at sectionals:

  • Dramatic Duet Acting Jack Barker and Will Crawford, 2nd place
  • Humorous Duet Acting:  Nate Young and Mack Quad, 2nd place
  • Extemporaneous Speaking:  Nick Barella, 2nd Place 
  • Impromptu Speaking:  Meg Maloney, 2nd place
  • Informative Speaking:  Grace Houghton-Larsen, 1st place
  • Original Comedy:  Adam Rozak, 1st Place
  • Original Oratory:  Shalini Rao, 1st place
  • Poetry Reading:  Meaulnes Kenwood, 1st place 
  • Prose Reading:  Will Crawford, 3rd place
