Glenbard South Ranked Among Top High Schools in Illinois By U.S. News

U.S. News & World Report released its annual list of top high schools in the nation this week.

Glenbard South High School ranked No. 45 on an annual list of the top high schools in Illinois released by U.S. News & World Report this week.

Glenbard West High School was unranked.

The methodology, which was unchanged since last year, looks at three main factors to decide a school’s ranking: whether students are performing better than statistically expected for the average student in the state; whether disadvantaged students are performing better in math and reading than the state average for their peers; and the school’s “college-readiness” performance, based on AP or International Baccalaureate test data.

In Illinois, the Prairie State Achievement Examination is used to gauge student performance to determine the ranking.

You can read more about the methodology here.

The top four schools are all Chicago selective enrollment high schools. The highest-ranked suburban school was Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire at No. 5, followed by Deerfield High School and Hinsdale Central High School. You can view the full list here.
