With caps, gowns, grad parties and college preparations on your mind, sometimes the details of the graduation ceremony itself can get lost or confused in the shuffle.
Read on for pertinent details about each high school graduation ceremony in Glen Ellyn.
Glenbard West High School
Friday, May 31

Ticket information
Each graduate will receive four tickets. Additional tickets may be requested using the order form posted online. In the event of rain, the ceremony will move to Biester Gym and only the four original tickets will be valid.
Additional, air-conditioned seating will be available in the auditorium to view the ceremony on closed-circuit television.
Other information
All financial obligations must be cleared with the school's bookkeeper by Wednesday, May 22, in order for a student to be eligible to participate in commencement.
Parents should arrive early. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
The late cost for a cap and gown is $50.

A professional photographer will take photos of each graduate. Graduates will receive order forms for the photos. Proofs will be mailed home.
Graduates should dress in appropriate attire and avoid gum, food and cell phones during the ceremony.
Commencement rehearsal is 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 29.

Glenbard South High School
Friday, May 31

Ticket information
Six tickets will be given to each graduate at commencement practice Thursday, May 30. There will be no extra tickets. Students and families should consult with each other to receive extra tickets.
Other information
Graduates should assemble in the auditorium at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Caps are to be worn parallel to the floor. Tassels are to be worn to the right side of the cap until after graduates receive their diploma.
The doors will open at 6:45 p.m. and the Glenbard South band will begin performing at 7 p.m. The school will provide reserved seating for handicapped individuals. To reserve seating, contact the guidance office by Friday, May 24.
Students dressed in poor taste will not be allowed to participate in commencement. Here are some guidelines for proper dress:
Girls
- Be cautious about hair, as the cap should be worn without pins
- No flowers may be worn or carried during the ceremony
- Appropriate footwear
Boys
- Boys must wear a shirt, tie and pants
- Boys may leave suit coats in the auditorium
- Appropriate shoes
