Frank Lloyd Wright was in Glen Ellyn in 1911, visiting his friend from Oak Park, William Heald, a leather salesman, who had purchased property for his family’s home.   Heald was interested in Glen Ellyn because of the birding opportunities in the area.  Wright was impressed with the site looking over Lake Ellyn and offered to design a house with staircases that would flow like a stream to the lake.  He imagined a house with porches that would almost allow it to take flight like the red-tailedk hawk circling above.  Heald agreed to have Wright design the house and have his firm build it.
Now 100 years after that meeting, the Glen Ellyn Historical Society will host a lecture by Johnson and a tour of the house by currect owner Mike Wilson.  Johnson will present evidence that convinced him the house was designed by Wright and answer challenges to his claim.  Wilson will open his house so attendees can judge its authenticity for themselves.
