From Glenbard Township High School District 87
Two students from Glenbard Township High School District 87 have been chosen as candidates for the U.S. Presidential Scholars program, which honors some of the country’s most distinguished high school seniors.
Congratulations go out to Glenbard South High School student Andrew Bean and Glenbard West High School student Matthew Udelhofen.
Up to 141 students are chosen from among outstanding graduating seniors to become Presidential Scholars. Scholars are selected on the basis of their accomplishments in the areas of academic and artistic success, leadership and community & school involvement.
Candidates for the honor are evaluated based on their academic achievement, personal characteristics, leadership and service activities, as well as an analysis of an essay they write.
All scholars are honored for their accomplishments during the program’s national recognition events, which are held in June in Washington, D.C. While in Washington, scholars will meet with government officials, educators, authors, musicians, and scientists.
