District 87 School Board Extends Superintendent's Contract

The following information comes from a Glenbard Township High School District 87 press release.

The Glenbard District 87 Board of Education earlier this month approved extending Superintendent David Larson’s contract through June 30, 2019. Larson’s original contract expires on June 30, 2015.

“We are pleased with Dr. Larson's performance the past two years and believe he is a strong fit for the Glenbard community," Board of Education president Rich Heim said. "He has helped advance the goals of our key strategic plan, including preparing students for college and the global work force. He has been visible and integrated his family into the community and has continued to place a strong focus on the best instructional practices for our students.”

Within the past two years, Larson has provided vision, leadership and support for Glenbard District 87’s:

  • Efforts for students to “level up” to more rigorous coursework, better preparing them for college and careers
  • Assessment literacy training
  • Professional development related to the state’s new teacher’s evaluation process
  • Fiscal solvency
“I have appreciated the opportunity to be the superintendent of Glenbard District 87," Larson said. "We have a great school board, talented staff, a strong leadership team and amazing students. It's a privilege to continue to serve the staff, parents and residents of the Glenbard communities.”

Dr. Larson came to Glenbard in 2012 with 12 years’ experience as a school superintendent and has very effectively utilized this experience to elevate the performance of Glenbard District 87.
Glenbard District 87 is the third largest high school district in Illinois, with 8,421 students in four high schools. The district has an annual budget of approximately $138 million.
