District 41 Announces Interim Assistant Principal

Jeff Burke was appointed at the interim assistant principal for Abraham Lincoln and Benjamin Franklin schools.

The Glen Ellyn School District 41 Board of Education has approved the appointment of Jeff Burke as interim assistant principal for both and schools effective immediately. Jeff replaces Linda Schweikhofer, who was recently named interim principal for Abraham Lincoln School. 

Burke joined in 2006, teaching third and later fourth grade at Abraham Lincoln; since 2011 he has been the math specialist for Abraham Lincoln and Benjamin Franklin, a role in which he built strong relationships at both schools.

"Jeff combines energy, commitment and depth of experience with a love for teaching and a talent for creating strong learning partnerships," said Superintendent Ann Riebock. "He will be a wonderful addition to these two strong schools."

He began his education career in 1996 in Clearwater, FL where he taught fourth and fifth grades. Later he taught in the Atlanta, GA public school system. He earned his bachelor's degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee and earned his masters in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University in Atlanta carrying a full academic load while teaching full time.

From the start of his career, Burke has shown a strong interest in the success of the organization as a whole and has been active in school and district committees everywhere he has taught. He's worked on technology, bully-prevention, curriculum and assessment projects and has been elected to leadership positions by his peers.
