Now, the school board will conduct a public meeting before the project is sent out to bid. According to District 87 documents, bids will likely go out in June following community fundraising efforts to pay for the lights. The district estimates the lights will cost approximately $300,000, all of which was promised to be privately funded.

Fundraising efforts were supposed to begin Feb. 20. At this time it's unclear how much the district has raised.

Mary Ozog, District 87 board member and well-known lights opponent, said no vote will take place at Monday's meeting. The school board will simply listen to residents' comments. When asked if she would approve the upcoming bids for the lights project, Ozog said, "At this point, I'm going to say nothing because nothing is in front of us."
