Snowden crises not going away

The Snowden disclosures of spying by U.S. and U.K. intelligence services on their European allies is becoming quite a world political hot potato. Yesterday, the President of Bolivia was prevented from flying over Portugal, France, Italy, and Spain in returning home from a diplomatic meeting in Moscow.  The fear was that Snowden was on the flight for safe haven to Bolivia.  The plane was forced to land in Vienna after almost running out of fuel.

Britain's The Guardian is giving minute by minute accounts of what's going on in detail in this drama.  It also has reporters on the scene in Moscow and Vienna tweeting what they see and hear there.

Readers' comments to the story at The Guardian are almost unanimous in finding Pres. Obama pathetic in going after a whistleblower in such an aggressive and spiteful way.  What happened to his hope and change ideals in bringing openness and full disclosure to government, they ask.  Most of them were huge supporters of his, and are now coming away disillusioned.  He's managing to turn off a whole generation of supporters overseas, and rather fast too.

Now you have most of South America angry, and calling an emergency session of South American countries in dealing with this affront to the President of Bolivia.  Everyone knows Obama pressured the Europeans to not let Morales' plane overfly their countries, yet these same European countries are angry that the U.S. and UK are spying on them, their allies.  Bizarre.

What a mess, and Obama is only making it worse.  This coming from a modest man of the people who once was a community organizer in Chicago's poorest neighborhoods.  Now he's taking up golf in Washington with the powerful and elite, and hounding with vengeance a human rights activist.  As someone tweeted, power corrupts.
