What to Look Out For at Tonight's Village Board Meeting

Here's a roundup of what you can expect to hear at tonight's village board meeting and workshop. 

7 p.m. Workshop:

A commission will discuss changes to an ordinance that could limit homeowners' ability to aesthetically change their properties. This proposal is suppose to protect Glen Ellyn's greenery by limiting the number of trees that can be torn down during construction. For more on this, visit Triblocal's report by clicking here. 

8 p.m. Village Board Meeting: 

The board will vote to adopt the expenditure budget in the amount of $39.8 million for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, which begins May 1.  

The expenditure budget consists of a total of 13 individual funds, which total $39.8 million. In comparison to last year’s fiscal budget of $42.3 million, this represents a decrease of $2.5 million or 5.9 percent, according to the village agenda packet.  Final copies of the adopted budget will be available for public review at the Civic Center, Glen Ellyn Public Library, and will soon to be online. 

Tonight the board will also vote to purchase multiple vehicles for the police department, estimated at $99,000. The board members will also vote to award a number of contracts ranging from $45,000 to $60,000 for various services around the village. For tonight's complete agenda packet click here.
