Village of Glen Ellyn Names New Assistant Village Manager

Village of Glen Ellyn hires Al Stonitsch as the new assistant village manager to manage human resources, IT and oversee communications.

The Village of Glen Ellyn on Monday announced the appointment of Al Stonitsch as its new assistant village manager.  

Stonitsch, who has 11 years of experience in local government and currently works as the human resources director for the Village of Glenview, will move into his new role March 11, according to a news release from the Village of Glen Ellyn.

The village received than 90 applications for the position that pays roughly $110,000 a year, following the retirement of former Assistant to the Village Manager, Dana Marie Izzo.

The village has two assistants to the village manager; one who handles administrative affairs and the other has typically managed human resources. Stonitsch will manage human resources, IT and oversee communications, as well as serve as Acting Village Manager in the manager’s absence.

Stonitsch graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and DePaul University with a Master of Science degree in Public Service Management.

He is married with four children, currently resides in Mount Prospect and enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family in his spare time.

Stonitsch said in a statement, “It’s an absolute privilege to work for Glen Ellyn, and I’m very excited about the opportunity to work with the management team and overall organization to achieve the Village Board’s goals for the community."
