UPDATE: Reduced Bail Denied In Library Book Theft Trial

A judge denied a bond-reduction request by library book theft suspect James Jackson. He remains held in DuPage County Jail on $25,000 bail, accused of from the Lisle Library. Jackson, of Glen Ellyn was arrested in August after a four-month investigation prompted by a rash of missing books, DVDs and other items. Jackson is scheduled to return to court Monday, Sept. 19 for arraignment.

Jackson was a part-time custodial employee at the library, though employees did not have an immediate indication the thefts were internal, according to Watch Cmdr. Ron Wilke.

Jackson reportedly re-sold stolen items online through Amazon. Police have not released how many items were found in Jackson's apartment, or if items have been identified as the property of other libraries.

Wilke said the confiscated items are in good condition, some with bar codes still intact. He said the department is not seeking to recover other items that have already been sold online.
