Lots of Recognitions Anticipated at Glen Ellyn Village Board Meeting Monday

The Glen Ellyn Village Board meeting, which kicks off with a bounty of recognitions, an anniversary and student achievements, will at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane St.

Recognition will go out to a number of city employees, as well as Glenbard South Boys Cross Country member John Wold, and Glenbard West Girls Cross Country Team for their performance at the state meet. December also will be recognized as Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month, and a proclamation will recognize the Golden Eagles' Golden Anniversary.

Members of the public are invited to speak for up to three minutes on any topic.

In addition to approval of accounts payable and meeting minutes, the consent agenda includes the following items up for approval:

  • appointment of Suzanne Cullinane, Andrew Van Gorp and John Zelasco to the Environmental Commission
  • amendment of the liquor ordinance to allow Trader Joe's to sell liquor other than wine and beer
  • permission for the Home for the Holidays event from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 14 at Fire Station No. 1
  • amendment to license agreement with Verizon Wireless
  • annual police pension board report
  • revised exterior appearance of the Courtyards of Glen Ellyn, 453-499 Kenilworth
  • exterior appearance for Short Term Loans at 661 Roosevelt Road
  • license agreement pretaining to a commercial sign on the public right of way at 26 N. Park Blvd.
  • agreement with the Park District regarding storm water improvements to Lake Ellyn

Finance Director Kevin Wachtel will then present tax levy information—the village plans to collect $11.5 million in property taxes—as well as information related to a number of special services areas. Assistant Village Manager Al Stonitsch will present information about proposed amendments to the ambulance service fees.

The next Village Board workshop is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 2, and the Village Board meeting is Dec. 9.
