In Court This Week: Man Charged with Hate Crime, Man Charged with Striking Wife with Car

Here's a look at what we're keeping an eye on this week.

DUPAGE:
Darien:
- , charged with aggravated battery and a hate crime, is supposed to be in court on Aug. 29, but records show he still has a warrant out. after yelling racial slurs on June 20 at a gas station in Woodridge.  

Downers Grove:
- , accused of at least one recent burglary in Downers Grove, is scheduled for an Aug. 29 hearing that is likely to be his arraignment (if he has been indicted). On July 28, a witness reported a man carrying a gun while trying to burglarize cars in the area near the Denburn Woods. Walczak was later arrested in connection with crimes committed near Denburn Woods.  

Elmhurst:

, who was charged with attempted murder, is scheduled for a status hearing on Sept. 2. Attorneys have been waiting on the results of her psychological exam. Luchetta allegedly gave her son a mixture of prescription drugs on the night of June 8 before slitting her own throat. When Luchetta woke up the next morning she found her son and called 911.    

Hinsdale:
- , accused of stealing guns from the Clarendon Hills Police Department is back in court on Aug. 31 for a status hearing. Ryan, a former Clarendon Hills police officer, allegedly removed five guns from the evidence room in 2007.  
, charged with domestic battery after he struck his wife with a car in her driveway, is in the middle of a divorce case with his wife and has an order of protection against him as part of the divorce. 

Woodridge:
- Appellate court recently upheld Christina Beltran's 2007 murder conviction for beating her five-year-old daughter Evelyn to death. Beltran, 27, is serving a 40-year sentence in the case. 

KANE:
Geneva:
- , indicted on a charge of sending a death threat via email to a dean at Geneva High School, is scheduled for an Aug. 31 hearing. The former GHS student allegedly sent the dean an e-mail stating that "he wanted (the dean) to suffer and die," on April 26, according to court records 
- lawsuit against the county over budget issues returns to court on Aug. 31.

St. Charles:
, St. Charles mother charged in connection to her daughter's severe beating last year, is scheduled for an Aug. 31 hearing at which, she might seek permission for visitation with her daughter.
