Village President Alexander Demos will recommend James Burket be appointed to complete the remainder of former Trustee Robert Friedberg’s term on the Glen Ellyn Village Board. Former Trustee Robert Friedberg resigned in December due to a move out of state for a professional opportunity.  If appointed, Mr. Burket would serve the remainder of Friedberg's term, which ends in May 2015.

“Mr. Burket would be an excellent addition to the Village Board for the residents of Glen Ellyn and would be a tremendous asset to the village in striving for financial responsibility and transparency," Demos said in a prepared statement.

Mr. Burket has been in the commodity business for about 30 years and is co-founder of Daniels Trading/Global Asset Advisors, a premiere commodity futures brokerage and trading firm, where he has worked for 23 years. He is currently a senior vice president and principal with the firm. According to his profile on the firm's website, Burket attended Elmhurst College.

He has lived in Glen Ellyn since 1994 with his wife of 23 years, Kathy, and two teenage sons, Rollin and Clayton.

“I’m pleased to be considered for the position of Glen Ellyn Village Trustee and hope to have the opportunity to serve the residents of Glen Ellyn in such an important role," Burket said in a statement

Burket's appointment will be presented for Village Board consideration at 7 p.m. Jan. 13. Meetings are held on the third floor of the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane St. Public comment is welcome. For more information, contact Kristen Schrader at (630) 469-5000.
