If you’ve purchased a new flatscreen TV or bought a new computer and aren’t sure what to do with the old ones, the Village of Glen Ellyn is ready to help you unload the items.
The village will be hosting a free fall recycling event Saturday. During the event, residents will be able to drop off a variety of electronics from batteries to desktop computers.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Duane/Lorraine parking lot in downtown Glen Ellyn. The village is hosting the event along with the Glen Ellyn Environmental Commission and Creative Recycling Systems.
The recycling event is being held in part because in January it became illegal to dispose of electronic items with the trash.
Items that will be accepted during the recycling event include:
- Batteries (NiMH, NiCd, Li, Li Ion, Lithium Coin and Sealed Lead Acid)
- CD Players
- CD ROMs
- Cell Phones
- Computer Monitors (CRTs and Flat Panel)
- Copy Machines
- Desktop Computers
- Docking Stations
- Extension Cords
- Gaming Consoles
- Hard Drives
- Laptop Computers
- Network Hubs
- Power and Network Cables
- Printed Circuit Boards
- Scanners/Fax Machines
- Large and Small Household Appliances
- Switching Boxes
- Tape Players
- Televisions (CRTs and Flat Screens)
- UPS (Personal and Network)
