Glen Ellyn Park District Pursues Referendum for Indoor Aquatic Center

Glen Ellyn Park District officials are working toward placing a referendum question on the November ballot that could ask residents to support plans for an indoor aquatic center, according to the Daily Herald reports.

The proposed aquatic center would cost between $11.9 and $12.9 million and would be attached to the Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Road in Glen Ellyn, the Daily Herald reports.

If approved, the project would not increase property tax bills. But it would also not decrease bills as originally scheduled since the cost to build the aquatic center would "replace a portion of the tax levy that is set to expire," according to the article.

This means the owner of a $400,000 house would continue to pay about $583 in taxes to the park district — this amount could decrease by roughly $146 if the aquatic center is not approved, according to the Daily Herald.
