Glen Ellyn is the third best place to live in the western suburbs of Chicago, according to the latest edition of Western Suburban Living Magazine.
Home values, schools and public safety were among the criteria used to rank Chicago's western suburbs. Glen Ellyn was beat out by Hinsdale, ranked No. 1 followed by No. 2 Clarendon Hills.
Glen Ellyn finished in the top five because it scored well across multiple categories. For example, Glen Ellyn has the ninth highest average home value in this area, $368,213, according to the article. Hinsdale takes the top spot with an average home value of $916,874.
"I'm thrilled about it," said Village President Mark Pfefferman. "I think it has a very positive impact in terms of civic pride and in terms of economic development. I think when people read that we're right up there with Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills the community becomes an even more desirable place to live, work and shop."
