Glen Ellyn Flood 2013: Disaster Relief Deadline, Yard Waste Collection, Library Information

The deadline to submit storm damage information to the Village of Glen Ellyn is Friday. Find other flood-related information.

The Village of Glen Ellyn has provided updated information for residents related to the flood and clean up.

Yard waste collection

With a special refuse collection underway in the Village its waste hauler, Allied Waste, suspended regular yard waste collection on April 22. The regular yard waste collection will resume on Monday, April 29.

Residents and businesses that experienced flooding as a result of the storms are asked to:

The following information must be reported directly to the Village of Glen Ellyn:

  • Depth of water on 1st Floor
  • Basement living area: Yes or No

  • Additional Comments: describe any structural damage that occurred

Submit the information to the Village of Glen Ellyn by Friday, April 26. The information will be submitted to DuPage County as part of the Village's application for federal disaster funding.

Glen Ellyn Public Library

The library experienced flooding in its subbasement where 5-feet of water flooded its mechanical room. And, the library also experienced damage in the circulation area and the first floor public meeting rooms, according to the library.

The bookdrop is open for returning materials, according to the library, though it asks that that patrons do not donate items at this time. No fines will accrue on the days the library is closed and any available hold items will be held for four days when the library reopens.

 Limited curbside service is being offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Held materials will be picked up and library materials will be pulled from the shelves. Patrons are asked to call ahead.

DuPage County Health Department

The DuPage County Health Department is recommending that persons who have been impacted by the recent flooding may want to consider a Tetanus-Diphtheria vaccination. This vaccine is available at physician offices, pharmacies and convenient care facilities.

The DuPage County Health Department has established a hotline for residents with health questions related to the flooding. Residents may call 630-682-7400 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through April 25.
