Glen Ellyn Encourages Residents to Recycle Cooking Oil at Post-Thanksgiving Event

Glen Ellyn residents will have the opportunity to turn their used cooking oil into bio-fuel at a recycling event held the weekend after Thanksgiving, according to a village of Glen Ellyn press release.

The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Sunset Park/Pool, 483 Fairview Avenue in Glen Ellyn, according to the news release.

Residents should bring their used cooking oil in a milk jug, bucket or the container they bought the oil in. The cooking oil will be recycled by Green Grease Environmental, according to the news release.

Cooking oil sticks to sewer pipes, causing clogs and breaks that are costly for homeowners and municipalities. Grease can also interfere with water treatment at our sanitary facilities.

Residents will take home their containers following the recycling event, according to the news release.
