Glen Ellyn and College of DuPage: Getting Along Again?

It's a start, at least, as the college hosted Monday's night's meeting of the Village's strategic planning session, and President Demos is optimistic.

With the College of DuPage having hosted Monday’s strategic planning session of the Glen Ellyn village board, there are signs that the long-feuding college and Village may be starting to move forward from last year’s ugly court battle that nearly resulted in the school leaving town, the Daily Herald reports

According to the paper, new Village President Alex Demos expressed hope that the meeting might begin to heal some of the wounds from the battle, which ended in DuPage County taking jurisdiction of the campus without it formally leaving the Village of Glen Ellyn.

"We're coming together and looking at today and tomorrow and moving forward,” Demos told the paper. “This starts an emphasis that we're going to work together in every capacity… It's a beginning of a new relationship."

Demos added that he has had multiple meetings with COD president Robert Breuder since taking office earlier this year, the paper said.

Meanwhile, College of DuPage spokesman Joe Moore told the paper that although COD staff would play no role at the meeting, the college is “"always interested in having a good working relationship with not only the village, but any of the surrounding entities with whom we work."
