County Officials to Host Remap Forum

District 4 elected officials will host a remap forum Monday to explain the process of drawing up County Board district boundaries.

DuPage County Board Member Debra Olson, District 4, will be briefing constituents on the process of drawing up County Board district boundaries to reflect new Census data at a forum hosted by Olson and fellow Board Members JR McBride and Grant Eckhoff along with Forest Preserve District 4 Commissioner Mike Formento—kicking off a public phase of the remapping that will be completed by mid-May.

Public comment will be taken at the forum, co-sponsored with the Wheaton and Glen Ellyn chapters of the League of Women Voters, at 6:30 pm on Monday, April 18, 2011 at the DuPage County Historical Museum, 102 E. Wesley St. in Wheaton.

“We look forward to hearing from our constituents in District 4. The redistricting process is fundamental to ensuring our residents are fairly represented in County government,” said Olson who serves on the Board’s Redistricting Committee.

According to the Committee, the County Board, by law, must draw equally apportioned districts.  Each of the six districts in the state’s second biggest county must be drawn so that 152,821 people live in each.  Olson will discuss the changes in the County and District 4 population measured by the 2010 Census.
