Civic Betterment Party Seeks Candidates for Local Offices

A few days remain for potential candidates for local government offices to submit an application for consideration to the Civic Betterment Party.

Applications must be received by Friday for the party’s nominating committee’s consideration.

The Civic Betterment Party of Glen Ellyn is a nonpartisan, volunteer organization with no platform agenda. Since 1931 the organization has helped residents interested in running for local office do so without worrying about fundraising, according to the organization.

The organization is seeking candidates for Glen Ellyn Village President, Village Clerk, Board of Trustees, and Library Board. Candidates chosen through this process will stand for election on the spring ballot, according to the organization. In addition, three seats are available on both the Village Board and the Glen Ellyn Public Library Board.

Those who submit an application by the deadline will also be interviewed. After interviews are complete, the organization’s nominating committee will select a slate of candidate it deems qualified. Then, those chosen will participate in a town meeting in December.

The town meeting will be held Dec. 1 at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center and voters will get to meet the nominees and hear from them and learn their views. Village voters will then choose among the candidates and determine the names that will appear on the ballot.
