The Environmental Commission is excited to announce Bike It! — an outdoor exhibit of bicycles as art.
The village's art and design community is re-inventing a collection of used and non-functional bikes into clever and thought-provoking sculptures. Bike It! was unveiled on June 15 and will continue for one month on the streets of Glen Ellyn.
Bikes are displayed on Main Street, Duane Street, Pennsylvania Avenue and Roosevelt Road.
Bike It! seeks to build upon the spirit of bicycling and the roll of people-centered, non-motorized transit in our suburban environment.
Additional activities throughout the month will focus on raising awareness of existing amenities such as bike racks and bike paths within Glen Ellyn, introduce the community to the new bike racks and encourage a community conversation about the role of bicycles for recreation and transportation.
