UPDATE: Pedestrian Struck by Train in Glen Ellyn Has Died

The 25-year-old ignored lowered gates and warning lights, police said.

UPDATE Saturday, Dec. 21, 11 p.m.:

The Chicago Tribune is reporting the pedestrian who was struck by a Metra train at around 2 p.m. Friday has died from his injuries. Daniel J. Carrillo of Tucson was 25 years old. He was struck after he walked around lowered gates and ignored warning lights at the Main Street crossing.

He reportedly died in the hospital Friday night.

A man was struck by a Metra train in Glen Ellyn at around 2 p.m. Friday, according to media reports.

The Daily Herald is reporting the man was struck by an eastbound train at the Main Street crossing after he attempted to walk around the lowered pedestrian gate.

Witnesses told police he was crossing from the south side if the tracks to the north side when he was hit, Suburban Life is reporting.

He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with "severe injuries," the Sun-Times is reporting.

The incident caused the Metra to run more than an hour late Friday. Train passengers were transferred to another train in Glen Ellyn.
