Two Arrested for Driving Stolen Vehicle, 16-Year-Old Girl Charged with DUI

The following arrest information was supplied by the Glen Ellyn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

DUI: A 16-year-old female of Wheaton was illegally parked on the roadway near Lambert Avenue and Orchard Road on Dec. 31 at 11:10 p.m. According to the report, the juvenile was charged with driving under the influence and was cited for no driver's license, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and improper parking on roadway. 

Possession of stolen vehicle: Darius J. Harris, 18, of Naperville and Lamar H. Russell, 19, of Aurora were arrested and transported to DuPage County Jail after officers pulled them over near Geneva Road and Main Street on Dec. 29 at 12:39 a.m. According to the report, the two were driving a stolen vehicle. Harris was charged with criminal trespass to vehicle, no valid's driver license and improper turn. Russell was charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle. 

Public intoxication: Karen A. Jahnke, 47, of Wheaton, was found sleeping on the south side of Glen Crest School, 725 Sheehan Avenue, on Dec. 29 at 3:27 a.m., according to the report. Jahnke was issued a citation for public intoxication and was escorted off school property.

Criminal damage to property: An unknown offender knocked over a section of a wooden-yard fence in the 900 block of Newton Avenue on Dec. 25 between 12:30 a.m. and 8:34 a.m.

Public intoxication: Officers responded to a disturbance in the 900 block of Roosevelt Road on Dec. 25 at 10:45 p.m. Officers then observed two males arguing in the parking lot. Ryan M. Hurley, 19, of Glen Ellyn; Matthew R. Boden, 20, of Glen Ellyn were both issued citations for public intoxication.

Possession of controlled substance: Eric R. Drozd, 27, of Warrenville, was sleeping in his car in the 600 block of Roosevelt Road on Dec. 26 at 3:27 a.m. Drozd was charged with possession of a controlled substance. 

DUI: Oscar Sanchez, 29, of Glen Ellyn, was charged with driving under the influence near Roosevelt Road and Briar Street on Dec. 27 at 2:48 a.m.

Possession of cannabis: Scott A. Anderson, 19, of Glen Ellyn, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol while walking along Pennsylvania Avenue on Dec. 27 at 11:44 a.m., according to the report. Anderson was issued citations for possession of cannabis and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Anderson was taken to DuPage County Jail for an outstanding arrest warrant. 

Theft: An unknown offender stole Christmas lights from the bushes in front of a home in the 400 block of Taylor Avenue on Dec. 29 between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. 

Theft: An unknown offender stole a Christmas figurine from the front yard of a home in the 400 block of Taylor Avenue sometime between 4 p.m. on Dec. 29 and 2:07 p.m. on Dec. 31. The figurine is estimated at $50. 

Retail theft: A 13-year-old female and 50-year-old Margaret R. McGriff of Naperville were both charged with retail theft after visiting Jewel, 599 Roosevelt Rd., on Dec. 30 at 12:46 p.m. An officer performed a traffic stop on McGriff's vehicle after it pulled away from the store and also charged her with driving with a suspended license. 

No valid driver's license: Vivian M. Quintanilla, 20, of West Chicago, was issued citations for no valid driver's license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and driving without lights when required. According to the report, Quintanilla was pulled over near Roosevelt Road and Briar Street on Dec. 30 at 7:10 p.m. 

Driving while license suspended: Juan P. Ocampo-Acosta, 25, of Wheaton, was pulled over near Geneva and Bloomingdale Roads on Dec. 31 at 12:45 a.m. According to the report, Ocampo-Acosta made an improper turn on red and was driving with a suspended license. 

Theft: A 16-year-old stole a purse from the counter while paying for purchases at a business in the 700 block of Roosevelt Road on Dec. 31 at 3:29 p.m. The juvenile was issued a citation for theft. 

Criminal damage to vehicle: An unknown offender damaged the passenger-side door of a vehicle parked near Hill and Forest Avenues sometime between 10 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 11 a.m. on Jan. 1.
