Traffic Accident Leads to Possession Charge

The following arrest information was supplied by the Glen Ellyn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Driving under the influence: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Roosevelt Road and Sunset Avenue on Sept. 10 at 3:09 a.m. According to the report, Valery Tsygenbard, 22, of the 5300 block of Main Street, Skokie, was charged with driving under the influence and issued traffic citations for improper lane usage and speeding.

Public intoxication: Officers responded to a lost property report at the Metra Train Depot, 555 Crescent Blvd., on Sept. 10 at 6:10 a.m. According to the report, Randal D. Pherigo, 49, of the 100 block of North Douglas Avenue, Springfield, was issued a citation for public intoxication.

Driving while license suspended: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Roosevelt Road on Sept. 9 at 11:22 p.m. According to the report, Carlos Garcia-Zamudio, 25, of the 200 block of Kenilworth Avenue, Elmhurst, was issued traffic citations for improper lane usage and and suspended driver's license.

Theft under $500: Officers responded to a shoplifting report at Dominick’s, 880 Roosevelt Rd., on Sept. 9 at 1:29 p.m. According to the report, an unknown offender stole baby formula.

Possession of a controlled substance: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop at Roosevelt Road and Nicoll Way on Sept. 10 at 1:44 a.m. According to the report, Theodore R. Wynn, 36, of the 100 block of North Harrison Street, Geneva, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug equipment, driving with a revoked license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage. Wynn was then transported to DuPage County Jail.

Driving under the influence: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Main Street and Hill Avenue on Sept. 10 at 2:17 a.m. According to the report, Brent D. Benedict, 35, of the 200 block of North Prospect Road, Wheaton, was charged with driving under the influence and was issued traffic citations for improper display of registration and suspended registration.

Possession of cannabis: Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident near Baker Hill and Roosevelt Road on Sept. 8 at 1:02 p.m. According to the report, Christopher L. Burden, 31, of the 4S000 Block of Rigi Road, Naperville, was charged with possession of cannabis and drug equipment, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Theft under $500: While on duty at Glenbard West High School, 650 Crescent Blvd., an officer was told that a student’s iPhone was stolen from the boys’ locker room on Sept. 8 between 7:40 and 10 a.m.

No valid driver’s license: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Emerson Avenue and Main Street on Sept. 9 at 7:53 a.m. According to the report, Mauricio Valencia, 26, of the 500 block of Gundersen Road, Carol Stream, was issued traffic citations for no valid driver’s license and sign violation.

Driving while license suspended: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Roosevelt Road and Briar Street on Sept. 9 at 10:25 p.m. According to the report, Brittany L. Konieczny, 26, of the 2700 block of South Highland Park Avenue, Lombard, was issued traffic citations for operating a vehicle with registration suspended for non-insurance, uninsured motor vehicle and driving while license suspended.

Public indecency: Officers responded to a public indecency report near Prospect and Pennsylvania Avenues on Sept. 5 at 1:55 p.m. According to the report, Karl M. Robinson, 22, of the 700 block of Liberty Avenue, Wheaton, was issued a citation for public indecency.

Driving under the influence: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Finley and Roosevelt Roads on Sept. 6 at 12:24 a.m. According to the report, Javier R. Reyna, 19, of the 0 block of North Center Street, Joliet, was charged with driving under the influence, and was issued traffic citations for speeding, improper lane usage, improper turn, failure to signal when required and suspended driver’s license.

Theft under $500: While on duty at Glenbard West High School, 650 Crescent Blvd., a student informed the officer that his unlocked bicycle was stolen from the rack near the Beister Gym. The theft occurred sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. on Sept. 7.

No valid driver’s license: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Geneva Road and Kenilworth Avenue on Sept. 8 at 2:36 p.m. According to the report, Sugehy A. Garcia, 21, of the 100 block of West Brown Street, West Chicago, was issued traffic citations for no valid driver’s license and uninsured motor vehicle.

Theft under $500: Officers responded to a reported theft in the 500 block of Forest Avenue on Sept. 5 at 10:30 a.m. According to the report, an unknown offender removed a yard sign from the residence's front lawn. The theft occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 and 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 5.  

Theft under $500: Officers responded to a reported theft in the 100 block of Surrey Drive on Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. According to the report, an unknown offender stole dishes and a bag of clothes from a locked storage shed. The left occurred sometime between 12 p.m. on Sept. 4 and 2 p.m. on Sept. 11. The value of the items is estimated at $80.

Driving under the influence: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near St. Charles and Riford Roads on Sept. 5 at 2:59 a.m. According to the report, Todd J. Dana, 41, of the 900 block of North San Vincente Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA., was charged with driving under the influence and was issued a citation for speeding.

Domestic battery: Officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 500 block of Pershing Avenue on Sept. 5 at 4:36 a.m. According to the report, Anita M. Butler, 50, of the 500 block of Pershing Avenue, was charged with domestic battery and transported to the DuPage County Jail.
