Thousands Still Without Power, Restoration Could Take Days
Many Glen Ellyn area residents are still without power after Sunday's storm, temps are expected to rise.
About 7,362 customers in the Glen Ellyn area are still without power at this time, according to ComEd's outage map.
Sunday's severe thunderstorm in the Glen Ellyn area without power, and more than 250,000 without power in the Chicagoland area. The storm brought hail, heavy rain and wind gusts up to 75 mph in West Chicago, according to Daily Herald. ComEd said Glen Ellyn was among several communities hardest hit by Sunday's storm. Due to snapped wires, broken poles and downed limbs, ComEd is reporting restoration efforts to take several days.
Due to the many downed lines and trees, numerous streets are closed in Glen Ellyn, particularly those near downtown. Deputy Police Chief Bill Holmer said there were no reported injuries after yesterday's storm. Holmer couldn't say exactly how many lines were down but said there were many.

Temperatures are expected to reach 95 degrees today and a cooling center is available at Benedictine University in Lisle.
