Third Day Without Power for Thousands of Glen Ellyn Residents

ComEd reminds residents restoration could take a few days.

As temperatures rise to the high 90s, thousands are still without power in Glen Ellyn after Sunday's severe thunderstorm knocked out power lines and downed trees across the village. 

Approximately 2,000 customers in Glen Ellyn are without power at this time, according Deputy Police Chief Bill Holmer. According to ComEd's outage map the number is closer to 2,500 customers in the Glen Ellyn area. 

Originally, the storm left approximately  Sunday. Then, that number was whittled down to 7,362 Monday.

Currently, many ComEd customers without power seem to be located in the area of North Main Street near Linden Street, according to the ComEd outage map. According to ComEd, restoration could take a few days.  

Village officials remind residents that cooling shelters are open at Glen Ellyn's  and Benedictine University in Lisle. There are many shops and restaurants open in Glen Ellyn, for a growing list of open businesses, .
