Teen Pleads Guilty To Taking Guns From Cop Car

Jordan Casey gets six months in jail and probation, avoids prison.

A Glen Ellyn teen was sentenced to six months in jail and probation for stealing two guns from a DuPage County sheriff's squad car in January.

Jordan Casey, 19, pleaded guilty last week to burglary and aggravated possession of stolen firearms in a deal with prosecutors that helped Casey avoid prison on the latter charge, a Class 1 felony. Casey will be credited for the time he has spent in DuPage County Jail since his arrest in mid-January, will be on probation for 30 months and must pay $635 in fines and costs.

Prosecutors said Casey and a James Dunn, a 20-year-old from Aurora, broke into a marked sheriff's squad car parked in Wheaton around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 7 and took a Remington shotgun and a Ruger mini rifle. Both guns were recovered.

The state's attorney is now seeking to seize Casey's car, which they said was used to commit the crime. Casey has yet to respond to the move, according to court documents.

Dunn's case remains open, with a hearing scheduled for March 20.
