State Police Schedule Roadside Safety Check This Weekend

A roadside safety check will be held Friday night and early Saturday morning.

Drivers take note. If you plan to travel along Route 64 this weekend, the Illinois State Police will be conducting a roadside safety check.

The Illinois State Police will be conducting the safety checks between 11 p.m. Jan. 25 and 4 a.m. Jan. 26.

The roadside check will be set up specifically at the southbound entrance ramp from Route 64 to Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355), according to Illinois State Police Cpt. Joe Perez.

Officers will be looking for drivers who are driving in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, transporting open alcohol or driving under the influence.

According to the Illinois State Police, alcohol and drug impairment are a significant factor in about 40 percent of all fatal crashes in Illinois.
