Police Blotter: Spray Paint Found on Cars, Signs

The following arrest information was supplied by the Glen Ellyn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Criminal damage to property: Officers responded to a damage report near Brandon Avenue and Illinois Street on July 24 at 2:05 a.m. According to the report, an unknown offender used spray paint on a complainant's vehicle. While in the area, the officer noticed spray paint on a street sign, park district sign and one other vehicle. 

Driving under the influence: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Roosevelt Road and Main Street on July 26 at 3:31 a.m. According to the report, Daniel J. Coopmans, 27, of the 900 block of Nawata Avenue, Mount Prospect, was issued a two-count complaint for driving under the influence and was a issued a traffic citation for speeding. 

No valid driver's license: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Roosevelt Road and Briar Street on July 26 at 8:49 a.m. According to the report, Ruth Ecatl, 24, of the 600 block of Elizabeth Avenue, Lombard, was issued traffic citations for driving without a valid license and speeding.

Theft under $500: Officers responded to a reported theft at Subway, 557 Roosevelt Rd., on July 26 at 3:07 p.m. According to the report, an unknown offender stole an unlocked bicycle from outside the store. 

Suspended driver's license: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Park and Hawthorne Boulevards on July 27 at 3:15 a.m. According to the report, Ryan W. Mead, 29, of the 600 block of Spalding Avenue, Glen Ellyn, was issued traffic citations for suspended driver's license, suspended registration, expired registration and disobeying a traffic signal.

Public intoxication: Officers responded to a reference of an individual lying on a sidewalk near Crescent Boulevard and Glenwood Avenue on July 28 at 11:53 a.m. According to the report, Robert L. Schnable, 51, of the 700 block of Liberty Street, Wheaton, was issued a citation for public intoxication. 

Theft over $500: Officers responded to a reported theft at Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Rd., on July 28 at 6:58 p.m. According to the report, an unknown offender stole a pair of glasses from the sidelines of a soccer field. The glasses are valued at $600.
