Police Blotter: More Yard Sign Thefts

The following arrest information was supplied by the Glen Ellyn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Disorderly conduct: Officers responded to a call concerning an intoxicated individual on June 26 at 12:31 a.m. According to the report, Samuel E. Scaletta, 52, of the 400 block of St. Moritz Dr., Glen Ellyn, was found lying in the roadway near Main Street and Dorset Court. Scaletta was issued a citation for public intoxication. 

Simple battery: Officers responded to a battery report in the 800 block of Main Street on June 26 at 3:53 a.m. According to the report, Gilberto Murillo, 33, of the 1300 block of of Pershing Ave., Wheaton, was issued a citation for fighting. 

Criminal damage to property: Officers responded to a damage report on June 26 at 12:30 p.m. According to the report, an unknown offender tipped over a wooden fence on the south side of a residence located in the 500 block of Lee Street.

Theft over $300: Officers responded to a reported theft in the 500 block of Riford Road on June 26 at 1:15 p.m. According to the report, an unknown offender stole a pair of steel ramps estimated at $108. 

Disorderly conduct: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Lambert and Roosevelt Roads on June 26 at 10:51 p.m. According to the report, Chrystil L. Llamas, 24, of the 400 block of Hale Street, Wheaton, was on her bicycle and issued an ordinance for public intoxication. Llamas was also issued a citation for violation of traffic laws while on a bicycle.

Theft under $300: A resident in the 600 block of Park Boulevard notified officers that a yard sign was stolen from her front yard sometime between June 26 at 8 p.m. and June 27 at 1 p.m. 

Criminal damage to property: Officers responded to a damage report in the 500 block of Riford Road on June 27 at 9 a.m. According to the report, an unknown offender shattered the rear sliding glass door at the residence. 

Criminal damage to property: Officers responded to a damage report in 600 block of Park Boulevard on June 27 at 9 a.m. According to the report, an unknown offender shot a BB at a window located on the east side of the residence located in the 600 block of Park Boulevard. 

DUI: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop at Park Boulevard and Sheehan Avenue. According to the report, Ryan W. Williams, 28, of the 100 block of Ellyn Avenue, Glen Ellyn, was issued a traffic citation for disobeying a traffic signal and charged with a two count complaint for driving under the influence. 

Disorderly conduct: While on patrol, an officer observed two intoxicated males at the parking lot in the 100 block of Park Boulevard. According to the report, Robert L. Schnable, 50, of the 700 block of Liberty Street, Wheaton, was issued a citation for public intoxication. Anthony P. Savino, 18, of the 700 block of Liberty Steet, Wheaton, was issued a citation for public intoxication and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. 

Theft under $300: An unknown offender stole a yard sign from the front yard of a residence in the 300 block of Oak Street sometime between 6 and 11 p.m. on June 27. 

Driving with suspended license: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Roosevelt Road and Main Street. According to the report, Ryan W. Ries, 33, of the 1200 block of Terraceview Dr., Aurora, was issued traffic citations for driving with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle with suspended plates and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. 

Theft under $300: A resident reported a stolen yard sign from her residence in the 600 block of Park Boulevard. According to the report, the theft occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. on June 27 and 5:15 a.m. on June 28. 

Theft under 300: A resident reported a stolen yard sign from her residence in the 500 block of Lee Street. According to the report, the theft occurred sometime between 10 p.m. on June 27 and 9 a.m. on June 28. 

Burglary from motor vehicle: Officers responded to a burglary report at McChesney & Miller, 460 Crescent Blvd., on June 28 at 2:15 p.m. According to the report, an unknown offender stole a handicap placard from a vehicle while it was left unlocked. 

Public intoxication: Officers responded to an intoxicated individual riding a bike near Roosevelt and Lambert Roads on June 28 at 3:50 p.m. According to the report, Amy K. Berger, 38, of the 1000 block of Illinois Street, Wheaton, was issued a citation for public intoxication. 

Criminal damage to property: Officers responded to a damage report in the 600 block of Prairie Avenue on June 28 at 4:06 p.m. According to the report, Gregory J. Livingston, 56, of the 600 block of Prairie Avenue, Glen Ellyn, was accused of removing signs that belonged to a residence in the same block on Prairie Avenue. Signs were damaged as a result of being thrown by the offender. The report does not say any charges or citations were filed. 

Theft under $300: Officers responded to a reported theft at P.S. Flowers, 522 Hillside Avenue, on June 28 at 5 p.m. According to the report a cash box was stolen from the store. The box was later recovered and turned into police. 

Theft under $300: A resident in the 300 block of Park Boulevard reported a missing yard sign. According to the report, the sign was removed sometime between 3 p.m. on June 28 and 8:37 a.m. on June 29. 

Vandalism: Officers responded to graffiti at Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road, on June 29 at 6:43 a.m. According to the report, an unknown offender spray painted on the side walk. The Glen Ellyn Public Works Department was notified to have it removed. 

Theft under $300: A resident in the 700 block of Crescent Boulevard reported a missing yard sign on June 29 at 9:18 a.m. 

DUI: Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated driver on June 29 at 11:12 p.m. in the 800 block of Roosevelt Road. According to the report David C. Sibery, 38, of the 800 block of Pembrook Court, Carol Stream, was charged with a two count complaint for driving under the influence. 

Theft under $300: A resident of the 800 block of Ellynwood Drive reported a stolen yard sign on July 7 at 7 a.m. 

Domestic battery: Officers responded to a battery report in the 300 block of Duane Street on July 1 at 11:55 p.m. According to the report, a resident at the same address, Derek A. VanBalen, 39, was charged with domestic battery and transported to the DuPage County Jail. 

Theft under $300: A resident of the 600 block of Prairie Avenue reported a stolen yard sign. According to the report, the sign was stolen sometime between 10 p.m. on July 1 and 5:30 a.m. on July 2. 

Theft under $300: A resident of the 600 block of Crescent Boulevard reported a stolen yard sign. According to the report, the sign was stolen sometime between 10:30 p.m. on July 1 and 7 a.m. on July 2. 

Theft under $300: A resident of the 600 block of Midway Park reported a stolen yard sign. According to the report, the sign was stolen sometime between 9:30 p.m. on July 1 and 7 a.m. on July 2. 

Criminal damage to property: Officers responded to a damage report in the 800 block of Crescent Drive on July 2 at 2 a.m. According to the report, an unknown offender broke the wood casing surrounding the mailbox. 

Vandalism: Officers responded to a damage report in the 500 block of Newton Avenue on July 2 at 8 a.m. According to the report, an unknown offender threw eggs at the resident's vehicle and smeared feces on the door handles. 

Burglary from motor vehicle: Officers responded to the CD One Price Cleaners, 386 Roosevelt Rd., on July 2 at 1 p.m. According to the report, an unknown offender stole a purse that was left in the unlocked vehicle. 

Theft under $300: A resident reported that an unknown offender stole an American flag from the front porch at the residence in the 400 block of Hill Avenue. 

Driving with suspended license: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Roosevelt Road and Royal Glen Drive on July 2 at 7:02 p.m. According to the report, Daniel A. Mendoza, 57, of the 1000 block of Lowden Avenue, Wheaton, was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license. Mendoza was also issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage. 

Theft under $300: A resident of the 500 block of Lee Street reported a missing yard sign. According to the report, the sign was stolen sometime between 10:30 p.m. on July 2 and 6:30 a.m. on July 3. 

Theft under $300: A resident of the 400 block of Bryant Avenue reported a missing yard sign. According to the report, the sign was stolen sometime between 8 p.m. on July 2 and 8 a.m. on July 3. 

Theft under $300: A resident of the 700 block of Willis Street reported a missing yard sign. According to the report, the sign was stolen sometime between 10:30 p.m. on July 2 and 7:30 a.m. on July 3. 

Theft under $300: A resident of the 500 block of Bryant Avenue reported a missing yard sign. According to the report, the sign was stolen sometime between 11:30 p.m. on July 2 and 1:15 a.m. on July 3.
