Police Blotter: Damaged Cars, DUI and Possession of Cannabis

The following arrest information was supplied by the Glen Ellyn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Criminal damage to vehicle: Officers responded to a damage report in the 800 block of Pershing Avenue on July 28 at 9:22 a.m. According to the report, an unknown offender shattered the rear passenger window. 

Criminal damage to property: Officers responded to a damage report in the 600 block of Western Avenue on July 29 at 3 p.m. According to the report, an unknown offender scratched the right rear bumper, quarter panel, rear window and hood of the vehicle with an unknown object. 

Driving under the influence: While on patrol, an officer performed a traffic stop near Geneva Road and Western Avenue on July 30 at 12:36 a.m. According to the report, Glen A. Sorgatz, 57, of the 26W100 block of of Mayflower Place, Wheaton, was issued a two count complaint for driving under the influence and was issued a traffic citation for improper lane usage.

Theft under $500: Officers responded to a reported theft near the train depot, 555 Crescent Blvd., on July 30 at 11:15 p.m. According to the report, an unknown offender stole a locked bicycle from the bike rack. The bike is valued at $200. 

Possession of cannabis: While on patrol, an officer observed a suspicious vehicle near the 100 block of Hillcrest Avenue on July 30 at 11:43 a.m. According to the report, Nathan H. Rodee Jr., 21, of the 300 block of Hill Avenue, Glen Ellyn, and John J. Smid, 18, of the 200 block of Illinois Street, Glen Ellyn, were issued citations for possession of drug equipment and cannabis.
