Police Arrest 20-Year-Old Man For Submerging Vehicle in Lake Ellyn

The male turned himself into authorities on June 10, six days after the incident.

On June 10, a 20-year-old male turned himself into Glen Ellyn Police after submerging a pickup truck in Lake Ellyn. 

Christopher Brewer, 20, of the 500 block of Duane Street, was charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to stop after having an accident involving an unattended motor vehicle and obstructing identification.  

The incident occurred on June 4 around 4 a.m. Officers responded to the submerged vehicle, which had an enclosed trailed attached, at the north end of Lake Ellyn and dive team entered the lake and confirmed no one was in the vehicle.

The truck was reported stolen to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office earlier that night on June 4.  

According to Deputy Chief Bill Holmer, alcohol was involved and the truck belonged to a businessman in unincorporated Glen Ellyn. 

Brewer was released after posting 10 percent of his $15,000 bail. Brewer now awaits his first court date.
