OMG PD: Underage Drinking, Eggs on Us, Ticket Toss

Here's a round-up of recent and bizarre police report items from the area.

BATAVIA

Underage Drinking

A 20-year-old North Auroran and a 19-year-old Batavian were each issued complaints for unlawful consumption of an alcoholic liquor. An officer made the arrests at 2:12 a.m. on Feb. 21, according to a police report.

Jason R. Leannah, of the first block of Grace Street, North Aurora, was speeding more than 40 mph over the limit. He posted his driver's license for bond for the speeding offense. Philip R.C. Vermaas, of the 800 block of North Forest Avenue, Batavia, was issued a notice to appear in court for failure to wear a seat belt, according to the police report.

Leannah and Vermaas were each released on personal recognizance for their individual drinking offenses. They were each given March 19 court dates for all charges.

Maybe He Couldn't Hear the Officer

Elvir Hamzic, 32, of the 100 block of Lakeside Drive, was cited at 1:11 a.m. Feb. 21 at his home with disorderly conduct-noise after police responded to the address on a noise complaint. Officers said Hamzic was uncooperative and insisted he could play his music loud. He initially declined to provide police an ID, but when he did and was issued a citation, he refused to accept the ticket, which the officer placed on his floor. He then picked up the ticket and threw it out the door.

GLEN ELLYN

Cinder Smash

Police said someone threw a cinder block through a patio door window causing it to shatter in the 300 block of Spruce. The incident was reported at 8 p.m. Feb. 23.

Thefts and Burglary

  • A vehicle parked in a driveway in the 700 block of Chidester was burglarized between 11:15 p.m. Feb. 22 and 8:30 a.m. Feb. 23. The vehicle was left unlocked and a cell phone was taken.
  • Someone stole a bottle of liquor from Jewel, 599 Roosevelt Road. The theft was reported at 5:42 p.m. Feb. 20, police said.
  • Tools were reported stolen at 5:42 p.m. Feb. 20 from a maintenance garage in the 500 block of Crescent Boulevard, police said. No value was provided for the stolen items.

Eggs on Us

Someone egged a stop sign and a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 500 block of Turner Avenue, police said. The incident took place at 1:53 a.m. Feb. 17.

NAPERVILLE

Snow in Your Gas Tank? No Thanks

Snow was put into a gas tank door in the 1800 block of Shetland Road on Feb. 24, police said.

Suspicious Prints

Footprints were found in the snow on Feb. 24 leading to a patio and bedroom window in the 2100 block of Allegre Circle, police said.
