Girl Gone Sick

Police were called at 12:58 a.m. Jan. 13 to the , on a report of a woman vomiting. Police arrived to find the extremely intoxicated woman in the women’s bathroom, surrounded by a pool of vomit. She began vomiting again when paramedics arrived to check on her, and she was transported to an area hospital.

Severe Phone Service

A 46-year-old Wayne resident reported at 3:54 p.m. Jan. 12 the theft of a Samsung Galaxy 16 gigabyte smartphone. The victim told police he went to pick up the phone at the UPS Store, 2400 E. Main St., but that the box in which it had been shipped had been opened and retaped before he picked it up. He opened the box in his vehicle and discovered it was missing the cellphone and the receipt and returned to the store to inform the clerk, who said he did not know what to do and would contact the store owner. Meantime, the victim contacted Verizon Wireless, which had shipped the phone, and Verizon told him that the phone had been delivered and signed for at the store, and that the victim still is responsible for the $248.38 cost of the device, and that he could be charged the full $599 retail value of the device, which had not been activated yet.

Can't Touch This

Police said two people on Jan. 14 got into a heated argument with a restaurant manager over whether french fries should be touching food in their bag in the 1900 block of West Jefferson Avenue. After the assistant manager gave the customers a warning, management chose to ban both people from the restaurant.

Persistent Purse Snatcher

Police said a purse was stolen between 3:30 and 4:10 p.m. Jan. 12 from a vehicle parked at the Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center. The vehicle was locked and someone broke out the driver’s side window, taking the purse, which was on the back seat floor. The purse contained a wallet, a number of gift cards and about $20 in cash.

Armed Robbery? I Don't Think So

Geneva police arrested Derrick Orr, 25, of Chicago on two charges of disorderly conduct, for a false 911 call and false police report, and criminal damage to state property at around 1:20 p.m. Jan. 9, Geneva police reports said.

According to the synopsis sheet, police responded to an emergency 911 call reporting an armed robbery had occurred just outside Dick’s Sporting Goods, 619 Commons Drive. The male caller said his wife’s purse had just been snatched by a male offender who was running toward the Crate and Barrel store armed with something metal.

Geneva and St. Charles police were dispatched, but the caller then disconnected and was unable to be reached by dispatchers.

A GPS search determined the caller’s location, and after police determined that there was no robbery in progress, St. Charles officers were able to locate Orr walking through a parking lot in the area of Burger King at the northwest corner of Randall and Bricher roads.
