Officers Make $120,000 Drug Bust at Glen Ellyn Restaurant

Multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at the La Playa Cantina restaurant at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies seized $120,000 worth of cocaine at a Glen Ellyn restaurant this morning. 

At 9:30 a.m. Thursday, about 20 law enforcement officers arrested seven individuals after executing a search warrant for narcotics at located at 690 Roosevelt Rd. in Glen Ellyn, according to officials. 

The DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group, a multi-jurisdictional task force that cracks down on drug trafficking, directed the bust after watching the restaurant for a month.

"We were investigating narcotics sales at the bar," said Steve Loan, director of DMEG. 

Loan said the owner was one of the seven taken into custody this morning after four kilos of cocaine were seized. During the operation, no one was injured or harmed said Loan. The Glen Ellyn, Lombard and Addison Police Departments assisted on the scene with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
