Officers Arrest Man for Armed Robbery at Walgreens, CVS

The robbery in Glen Ellyn occurred on May 16 around noon.

A man suspected of using a weapon to rob multiple drug stores was arrested on Friday. 

Jason A. McGee, 35, of Wheaton was charged with armed robbery for two separate incidents that both occurred in May.  

On May 16, employees at the Walgreens on Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn that a man brandishing a knife at the pharmacy counter was demanding a specific drug called "Opana ER."

Employees handed him about 50 pills, the man then fled from the store. Nobody was hurt in the incident. The police began a search for the suspect and released a description of what he looked like.  

The Glen Ellyn Police Department along with the departments in Winfield and Wheaton were able to arrest McGee on Friday for the May 16 incident at the Glen Ellyn Walgreens, in addition to another armed robbery that occurred in Winfield.

According to a report released by the Glen Ellyn Police Department, McGee also obtained prescription drugs at gunpoint while in the CVS pharmacy on Geneva Road on May 23. Nobody was hurt in this incident either.  

Last week, Winfield officers developed information that lead them to McGee. He was then processed in Glen Ellyn and taken to the DuPage County Jail.
