No Foul Play Suspected in House Fire Near Glen Ellyn

A recent fire in unincorporated Glen Ellyn caused approximately $3 million worth of damages to the home.

The fire that caused extensive damage to a home in unincorporated Glen Ellyn on March 27 is still under investigation but fire officials say there is nothing that suggests foul play.

"We're sure it's accidental, just not sure how," said Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Department spokesman, Lt. Craig Eldridge. 

Eldridge says it will be awhile before investigators determine a cause. Right now the insurance companies are dealing with the aftermath and Eldridge says this part takes time.

Multiple fire districts were called to the home in the 1S400 block of Sunnybrook Road around 12:45 p.m. that Tuesday. No injuries were reported and the fire was thought to have originated on the second floor. No one was home during the time of the fire and the pets that were in the house were unharmed. 

Parts of the home were under going construction or remodeling, it's unclear if that played a role in the fire.
