Metra Train Accident Leaves 56-Year-Old Woman Dead

Glen Ellyn Police are investigating the incident that occurred Monday at 1:30 p.m.

A 56-year-old woman was near the Glen Ellyn Metra Station on Monday around 1:30 p.m. 

Glen Ellyn Police are investigating the incident, which they are classifying as a "death investigation." Metra conductors at the scene said the woman jumped in front of the train at the last minute "with her hands in the air." Glen Ellyn Police are not releasing any further information about the woman at this time. 

The outbound train was stopped on the tracks for nearly two hours and departed again for Elburn around 2:57 p.m. Earlier, pedestrians and cars were blocked from crossing the Crescent and Park Boulevards intersection. The scene is now clear and motorists are able to access this thoroughfare.
