Man Indicted in Naperville Stabbing Death Pleads Not Guilty

Daniel Olaska, 27, charged in the stabbing death of a Naperville teacher pleaded not guilty on all counts.

The Naperville man charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Spring Brook Elementary School teacher Shaun Wild has pleaded not guilty on all charges.

Monday morning Daniel Olaska appeared before Judge Kathryn Kreswell where with his attorney Brian Telander he entered his plea of not guilty on all charges. Last week, a grand jury indicted Olaska on 14 counts, including seven counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, four counts of armed violence and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.  

Olaska is being held without bond in the DuPage County Jail. He was arrested and charged after a fight at  early Feb. 4. Wild died as a result of his injuries. Lemont native and North Central College senior  was also injured and discharged from  several days after the attack. A bouncer was also injured in the incident.

At the brief court hearing Monday, prosecutor Demetri Demopoulos said that the state has more than 300 pages of documents, including police reports and eight video discs that contain videos from the night of the incident as well as police interviews.

Olaska will be before the judge again May 23 for a status hearing.
